Aero-Yo - Superfly
This low-cost off string yo-yo sports a large rubber weight.
No matter how good you are, if you play off string, your yo-yo is eventually going to hit the ground. Obviously, a standard yo-yo is not going to handle this too well, so off string yo-yos are special-made to be more durable in case they're dropped. The Superfly is a great yo-yo for newcomers, as its rubber weight gives it impressive durability, and presses the weight out to the wings, so much so you're likely to forget that this yo-yo is so inexpensive. This weight distribution makes it easier to perfect your basic off string skills like the Forward Pass Mount.
Although this yo-yo is very durable, please realize that it's not indestructible.

If you're looking to start off string but don't know where to start, this is my recommendation. It's close in size and play to the Aquarius of years past, and the response system uses no pads, which means minimum maintenance for you! The body is a nice smooth delrin plastic, and the rubber rims are great for beginners, soft on the bounce and gives great spin. The concave bearing, although not especially useful for off string play, is a charming addition. I have no problems recommending this as a new standard off string yo-yo.
