Description

sOMEThING - Jet-Set

A machined delrin body and a metal weight makes the Jet-Set a top-class off string yo-yo.

The Jet-Set is sOMEThING's first off string yo-yo, and a rather unique one at that, with a large delrin body and a metal weight ring embedded in the sides. The Jet-Set was designed with input from many top players, making the Jet-Set not just a high class yo-yo, but one that is sure to have a big impact.

The Jet-Set's low edge and inverse round shape keep sleep loss at an absolute minimum during play. But its most distinct feature isn't the shape, but the metal weights in the side. The weights weren't in the outer rims, but rather in the middle of the body to give you both powerful spin and a high degree of control. With the hub and weight being the only metal on the body, it also creates a striking accent to the yo-yo's design. With full metal spin and the texture of delrin, Jet-Set has a really gentle, yet powerful feeling to it.

*The joining surfaces of the metal and body may slightly dye the body a bluish tint.

Here are some reviews by top players who have tried the Jet-Set

>>2010, 2004 World Champion Tsubasa Onishi
My first thought when picking up this yo-yo was that its brilliantly soft and smooth texture would be perfect for grind tricks. After trying the yo-yo, that texture definitely stood out to me as a key feature, and each trick I did just felt... good! The metal weight gives both a long sleep and easy control, making it easy to do a variety of tricks. I think the gap width is just right, and a lot of players are sure to agree with me. Regeneration tricks are also easy to perform with the Jet-Set. From off string beginners to advanced players, I can readily recommend the Jet-Set to anyone. If you throw a different division and want to play some off string, this is the yo-yo for you.

>>2005 East Japan Champion Kenji Eto
Compared to off string yo-yos from other companies, what struck me about the Jet-Set was how little sleep loss I experienced while playing at a fixed slanted axis. This kind of design is likely to help progress the development of off string horizontal styles.

I really like how the Jet-Set accepts a variety of response pads, letting me choose just how responsive I want my yo-yo to be. I could even install a shim if I wanted, which is a nice touch.

Overall, the Jet-Set's general impression is that of impressive stability, surely a bonus for both beginner and advanced players on the competition front lines. I suspect that the Jet-Set is going to usher in a new era of metal rim-mounted off string yo-yos.
