YoYoJam loves to challenge its own conventions, and ushers in a new bold but simple design for off string play. Although it seems too big for practical use at competitions, Taiki Nishimura used the Big Yo in 2006 to claim the 4A World Championship. In 2008, Rei Iwakura followed suit with the same yo-yo. With two world champions choosing the Big Yo, its true potential as a practical yo-yo was revealed to everyone. The Big Yo uses a special extra-large bearing made just for this model, so it feels as if the entire yo-yo has been supersized, removing any strange feeling that may be aroused from a large yo-yo and a small bearing. There are some tricks made impossible by the size of the yo-yo, but its large size makes it ideal for tracking during off string play, leading to a higher success rate for that kind of trick. The thin rim doesn't give it much spin, but if dropped it will bounce back up without suffering much sleep loss, giving you a crucial chance to recover your yo-yo if you miss a trick. Its large size makes it highly visible, ideal not just for contest and off string play, but it's also seen often in 1A performances.

It's easy to land, but more difficult to control, so although it's good for new players who want to give off string a try, it's very difficult to go from beginning to advanced 4A tricks using this yo-yo. For those who want to advance their play, we recommend checking out the smaller off string yo-yos available.
