The Checkmate is Ishida's first signature model, well deserved considering his four year domination of the Kyushu Yo-Yo Contest. The Checkmate is Ishida's brainchild, taking all of his opinions and considerations into account during its design.
The body is broken into a three layer step-straight profile, prompting the special designation of a "mixed straight" shape. This shape is not just geared towards performance, it is also meant to fit more easily in the hand. Ishida's specialty of counterweight play makes the yo-yo's fit in your hand an important design consideration. Naturally, it's bursting with potential for 1A and 3A play as well.
With all these points in mind, this is a new flavor in yoyomonster's lineup, with a real character of its own. Loaded with Dif-e-yo's KonKave bearing, it's ready for serious play right out the box. It has elements to appeal to everyone, and its average size and weight gives it a very standard feeling during play, so despite its peculiarities, it's a yo-yo that will fit well into anyone's hands.
