Sturm Panzer - D-Starter

The D-Phalanx, outfitted with a size D bearing is perfect for players looking to break into the metal game.

During the battle with Ryosuke Shiozome, the Schneider sustained heavy damage. Despite being a heavyweight weapon, the Schneider got worn down by the concentrated power of Shiozome's yo-yo. The hypothesis is that the smaller size and bearing of Shiozome's yo-yo is the secret to its destructive power.

Back in the Marshall Islands, while performing repairs and upgrades on the Schneider MK-II, they began to explore the hypothesis, and came across an amazing design they codenamed the D-Starter, the perfect weapon for mass deployment.
-From Story Book 7

There are several different types of yo-yo bearings. By far the most popular is the "Size C," or "large type bearing." The D-Starter, as you might guess, is loaded with a smaller size D bearing, which spins almost twice as fast as the larger bearings. This compact power is difficult to control, but makers are starting to take another look at the immense potential they offer. Although the D-starter casually displays the great potential of size D bearings, it took some serious yo-yo physics to ensure the design would be successful.

Designed specifically to use the smaller bearing, the D-starter's concept is very different from yo-yos with larger bearings; from the moment you throw it until you bind it back up, the power of the yo-yo is directly felt through the string. The biggest difference is in the yo-yo's weight; while yo-yos this size would normally weigh around 65-67 grams, the D-starter is a very light 61 grams. The ability to retain such power in a small package is a major appeal to using the smaller bearing. The balance is quite impressive, while light yo-yos tend to be less stable, the D-Starter defies this logic and spins true.

Unlike Sturm Panzer's previous lineup of cutting edge bimetal designs, the D-Starter is a monometal yo-yo, manufactured in China in order to reduce the price point and make it easier for players to attain that special power and feeling that previously could only be felt with super high-end models like the Leo Sniper.

If you think the D-Starter is TOO light, you can add lateral caps (or any FH Zero size side caps) to increase the yo-yo's weight.

From the maker:
The D-Starter was mainly designed to be an entry model to introduce players to the size D bearing. Because of the bearing size, the throw trajectory and bind technique is different from what you might be used to. Once you've decided that size D is for you, you can step up your game with our higher end bimetal models, such as the SY-002 Leo Sniper MK-II or SY-003/6 Schneider MK-II.

* We use a non-branded concave size D bearing. You can upgrade the bearing to a Dif-e-Yo KonKave size D bearing for improved spin (please remember that modifications to the yo-yo are done at your own risk!)

* We use Blade Attack Response Pads (Super Grip Economy). Two extra pads are included for you. Compared to the CP-07 Blade Attack pads, the Super Grip Economy are much more responsive, so you might want to start with a thinner or stiffer string. If you want less responsive play, you can switch the pads out for the CP-07 pads.

* This yo-yo accepts 48mm (outer diameter) side caps, such as the YoYoJam Lateral Caps. Due to variations in the cap sizes, sometimes they will not easily install on the yo-yo. Please be careful and proceed at your own risk.

* The Axle is the stainless steel M3-10. We've included a spare axle with this yo-yo. Because the M3-10 is narrower than our standard M4 axle, we urge you to handle it carefully when performing modifications and maintenance on your yo-yo, and be careful not to drop or hit the yo-yo too hard, or you might damage or break the axle.

* Some marks or scuffs on the yo-yo may be present; they are a result of the manufacturing process and do not affect how the yo-yo plays.
